Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Quiet Boat in Melaque and Barra

Well since we no longer have the "perfect guests" on board, we have had to learn to entertain ourselves...
And we seem to be doing a decent job of it!

We did a little produce shopping in Melaque.

And found some leftover Noche Buena, the Christmas beer!

We enjoyed some "squishy drinks"!
Pina coladas with fresh pineapple!

We ate one more time at the cheapo beach restaurant in Melaque.

Remember the taco salad for less than $3 US?
Mmmmm....
I think the waiter knows my order now.
And we enjoyed 7 peso Sol beers...

Jim failed to purchase a mask from a beach vendor.
But did purchase a new beer cozy...

We motored back in to the lagoon for internet and visiting with Chris and Lorry and Jungle Joe of "Hiolani".

We celebrated the 17 year anniversary of our 1st date with some Valle de Guadalupe vino purchased on our last road trip to the border.

Speaking of Jungle Joe...
Long story on this one, but this little guy has been a good friend for many, many years and likes me a lot which sometimes makes Jim jealous and mad...
We enjoyed a road kill roasted chicken lunch with Jungle Joe at the Hiolani household.
Of course Chris and Lorry were there too.

Maya of "Kamaya" made me two lovely bracelets and a beautiful "God's Eye" for the boat. She is nine.
She also showed me how to crochet.
Her brother, Kai who is seven knows how to knit.
When he was six he knitted two hats.
Amazing kids we meet out here.

Enjoyed a happy hour on "Sea Chantey", with Gary and Sandy (long time friends of "Hiolani" and "Makai" ~ "Makai" being friends from our 97-00 cruising years), along with Darda their crew and Doug and Kathy of "Spirit Quest", "Hiolani" and Bill and Diane of "Wire Walker".
The group consisted of two power boats and three catamarans...

Whooped it up with the same group and about 75 other cruisers at Piper's where Bill of "Grey Max" played bass along with Bill of "Tica" on the drums and someone of somewhere on guitar.

One of the 75 other people there happened to be Merry, friends of Wayne and Carol of "Capricorn Cat".
Merry and I figured this out in about 12 seconds...So I think we are managing to have some enjoyment without the assistance of Alan and Susan...
As hard as it is...

Wonderful stories. Wonderful pictures. And yes, was just telling my kids at school the other day that the world's luckiest children are those who grow up on boats.

You guys have already won the Funlympic Gold Medal for living your life to the full.
I love it!

Damn, I almost choked when I read the part about your first date being 17 years ago. SEVENTEEN! Time does fly I guess.
