We left La Paz on Monday ~ Cinco de Mayo and had a nice Southerly pushing us along.
We motorsailed along with the headsail out.
Had nice warm wind, which meant bathingsuits the whole way!
We pulled in to the anchorage at Isla San Francisco around 4 pm.Greg off of "Yankee Dreamer" recognized what kind of boat we have ~ he had almost had one built!
Not too many people know what "Meerkat" is...
He suggested we anchor in the "hook" in front of him.
Well... it's really shallow there...Not my first choice ~ the depth sounder only read 5', so maybe we had 8' under us?
But still a beautiful view!
We floated around in the 78 degree water ~ saw one small jellyfish.
Greg & Carol came over to tell us of how he almost bought an Ocean 48.8 catamaran...
Interesting!
Made burritos for dinner and enjoyed the beautiful sunset.
Off to bed with books.
Now the rest of the story...
I was awake from about 12:30 am due to the "coromuel" wind coming into the anchorage. There was a small chop coming around the point, which rocked us a bit. It really rocked the monohull anchored further out in the bay. I got up to check on things a few times - all seemed ok, so tried to go back to sleep around 3:00 am.
Then the "bump" - we had swung around and the tide was out and we were bumping the bottom...
We both flew out of bed and then sat there ~ what do we do now?
Well, we watched as "Yankee Dreamer" got stuck on the bottom and had to power off.
Then we watched as a power boat did the same thing.
Three of the six boats anchored were hitting the bottom...
Anchoring in this shallow of water just doesn't work for me!
So Glad I Went to the Doctor!
