Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

San Evaristo on the Way North

So that was a fun night...

But the next day brought the beautiful mainland Baja coast! We stopped and anchored at one rocky beach to beachcomb, but there was nothing too exciting.
Motored along further up the coast to San Evaristo.
We were here 8 and 10 years ago.
To the beach, where we got our "dogs for the day"!
(Kirby and Suzie will remember this!)
One an overgrown puppy...

and the other a pit bull who didn't know he was a pit bull.

We named them Dopey and Spot.
I think they liked their new gringo names.

So the weird thing Spot the pit bull did was to back up against a 1 1/2' tall rock and poop on top of the rock. I was laughing, and Jim told me not to laugh at him "remember his breed"! We saw this in Agua Verde too, so it must be a way to mark their territory or maybe they don't want to get their butts bit by red ants.

They joined us for our walk over the hill to the salt drying flats ~ sort of led the way like dog tour guides.Wow Pam and Stan ~ look at all that salt!
I bet you two wish you had been there with us but then there wouldn't be any salt left!

All the burros were hanging by the salt flats and some were rolling in the dirt.

This sign just didn't seem necessary. After all, this is on a one lane dirt road that seemed to deadend at the next beach. Oh well, at least it confirmed we were knew where we were!

Had a drink of water at the top of the hill and shared some with our dogs.
Back down the hill towards the "town" and anchorage.Jim was on a quest to find beer.
Found the tienda, but no beer...
Our dogs abandoned us for two guys on another boat after giving them water too.

Dinghied around the North pointThen saw a Hunter sailboat.
Hmmmm - did you buy it from H&S?
Yes? And you used to deliver boats for H&S?
So we met Terry and Michelle from "Coastal Passage II"!

Back to "Meerkat" for a float and fresh water rinse, then back to have happy hour with Terry & Michelle and talk "shop".

Then back again to "Meerkat" for leftovers, books and early to bed after the fiasco at San Francisco.

Did you see our dog "Cindy" out there anywhere? Or was it "Vamanos"???

Ha ha ha Suzie! I am amazed you remember the names of our "dog for a day" at that lake on mainland Mexico - we named her "Vamanos", but her real name was Cindy! Now if we could just remember the name of that lake...
