Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Day 3 ~ Valle de Guadalupe, Tecate to San Diego or "Shop til You Drop"

Ok, get me off of this boxspring!
Little or no sleep, aching backs.
Time to go.
Up, coffee, showers, on the road.
To Tecate, where we parked on a side street and walked to the Mexican Immigration office for our new tourist cards.
E A S Y !

Now the fun part, trying to find the way out of the country.
It seems like they change it every 6 months.
Finally found the road after we drove in circles for 15 minutes.
Crabby US border patrol agent at the gate.
Yeah, right ~ middle aged, light haired, light eyed gringos in a dirty Xterra are smuggling in Mexicans.

Now for the post title:

"Shop til You Drop"
We had our list and we found our stores!
Scotch, windshield wiper blades, coffee beans, coffee creamer, windshield sunshades, powdered gatorade, indoor-outdoor thermometer, sunglasses, leave-in conditioner, razors, paper towels, wine and snacks for the trip back and who knows what else.
Target, Albertson's (not by choice), Von's, Long's, West Marine, Trader Joe's, Big 5, The Grossest Dollar Store Ever, Another Von's.
Ok, ok, ok already, I have dropped.

A delicious salad (me) and burger (Jim) at Carrow's, then to the motel.
Checked in and 5 minutes later, Dave and Kellie pull in!
Yipee!
As Kellie would say, "That was easy".
A little hora feliz in the room, then burgers at Boll Weevil.
Then Von's again.
Watched one of the political screeches, oops I mean speaches in "Sweet Lorraine's" room, then to bed.
Which was a mattress this time.
