If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. Willows with The Wogs! Labor Day 2007

Another awesome trip to Willows, on the backside of Santa Cruz.
This time we took ex-C-dockers from WAY back, Paul & Sue Bruer, or as we call them:
Sue & Paul E. Wog Headed out Friday afternoon a little after 4 pm, and pounded through the slop and seas. Not one of the most fun trips out...
We anchored at Yellowbanks for the night (along with a whole bunch of other boats!), including several neighbors and friends. We enjoyed Sue's guacamole with chips, burritos, beer and wine! Up Saturday morning and headed up the backside for calmer waters. Everyone we talked to said they got a little beat up on Friday too. Even Scott & Lee who came out Saturday morning said it was still sloppy out there!

Willows was once again beautiful!

Out of the six boats that were there, four were from G Dock!

Paul took a nap while Sue, Jim & I went in to meet Jim & Lucy off of "Passage II" on the beach.
Jim & Jim

We took a little walk up the river bottom so "Ranger Lucy" could point out the finer attributes of Santa Cruz Island, such as this "Fox Scat" (or poop as the rest of us would call it...)!

It was HOT, so back to the beach to swim.

We had a bit of a messy dinghy launch, but got out ok. Paul & I kayaked for awhile then back to the boat to swim and prepare for Hora Feliz on "Meerkat".
Rick & Karin from "Eyes of the World" joined us.

And Jim & Lucy from "Passage II" came over too.

Jim bbq'd burgers. We watched the stars and off to bed! Well, sort of... Jim & I slept in the net until the moon rose around 11:30 pm. Suddenly it was daylight outside - the moon was so bright! Then to our real bed.

Sunday morning we enjoyed mimosas with our breakfast.

Then took a dinghy cruise further up the backside to Gull Island.
The new dinghy is great - got up on a plane with four of us and no hesitation! Explored around for awhile, then got wetsuited up and went diving. It was kind of chilly and not the best visibility, but still worth it.

Happy hour was on "Passage II" this night! Jim, Lucy, Rick, Karin, Sue, Paul, Jim & I enjoyed some wonderful salmon dip, nuts, wine and beer and of course, conversation and wonderful friends!

I made crab and shrimp pasta for dinner. Had some of Sue & Paul's chocolate cake then enjoyed the stars and warm evening again! Jim stayed in the net until about midnight and Paul stayed up there until 3 am.

Monday morning we watched the other boats pull anchor and head out. We swam for awhile and even got Sue in the water!

We motored down the backside and saw dolphins, but they didn't come too close to us. We had about 15 knots of wind in the channel and once again LOTS OF SHIP TRAFFIC!
We had three N/B ships in a row.
There are two ships in this picture...

Then we had LOTS OF REGULAR BOAT TRAFFIC!
Everyone was coming in the harbor at the same time!
It was a little crazy coming in the entrance with all the kayakers, small boats, boats with full sail up, jet skis, dinghies and more!

Bob met us in his dinghy (our old dinghy) as we came in and went back to our dock to grab our docklines.

Another great trip with great weather and friends!
