Just a Tad More on The Olympic Games

Yea - Mexico wins a gold medal!
Yea for Guillermo Perez! He won his gold medal in taekwondo.
Yea Guillermo!

Soooooo... now on the Mexican TV stations it's all about Guillermo.
Guillermo watching the other sports.
Guillermo watching diving.
Guillermo talking to the president of Mexico on the phone.
Guillermo talking to a puppet.
Guillermo watching replays of his win.
Guillermo watching replays of replays of his win.
Guillermo talking to the puppet again.
Seriously, 45 minutes of Guillermo last night.

What else did they show during The Olympics on Mexican TV last night?
Sports that included Mexicans.
Only sports that included Mexicans.
The race-walk.
The entire race-walk.
Oh wait, they did a split screen to show two, yes two, BMX races.
The BMX races were pretty darn exciting!
The go fast, they get air, they crash and burn!
Exciting.
Ok, back to the guys walking as fast as they can for 50 kilometers.
Yes, 50 kilometers...
Walk, walk, walk.

And now back to Guillermo!
45 more minutes of Guillermo.

In all real "seriousness", we like Guillermo.
He seems like a really nice guy.
And we are very happy for him.
Congratulations to you Guillermo!

It's just that AGAIN!
There is nothing like watching Mexican TV.
N O T H I N G.

Walk, walk, walk.
Guillermo
Walk, walk, walk.
Guillermo
Walk, walk, walk.
Guillermo

Over and over and over again.

Race walking? I thought they threw that out years ago... They want to throw out Girls Softball and keep racewalking? Who want's to see a bunch of anorexic guys twisting their butts? Who are these people on the IOC?

Needless to say... we didn't hear a thing about Guillermo in Texas. We did hear all about Nastia's homecoming and since she lives about 10 miles from my house we'll hear about it several more times this weekend.

I just saw Hullahoop on the Olympics!! Does that mean they still have the wiggling ribbon event? I remember when Jolea was little and that was very popular for those girls who didn't make the gymnastic team. They would run around and wiggle a long ribbon on a stick. Jolea had one of those stick ribbon things. She was always jumping and running around until one day she crashed into our huge console type TV and almost broke her nose. I think her dad took that wiggly ribbon stick to work with him the next day so she wouldn't kill herself. Who knows maybe he's competing on the sly in the wiggle ribbon event... after all these years we've been kept in the dark.

jomamma - other anorexic guys want to watch it I guess... although you don't see a whole lot of anorexic guys in Mexico. Just tortilla belly ones. Hula hoop - but it was just that rythmic gymnastics crap right? They didn't spin it around their waists for an hour or so did they? Boring. Yep, they still have the ribbon thing - I'm sure Jolea loves to see you put this story in print! Ha ha! And her Dad just took it to work? Why not throw it in the trash or up on the roof?
alaskan dave - wonder what the pommie coverage is like? ha ha!

Come to think of it, he didn't take this one to work... it was the little rolly thing that has balls inside that pop like a popcorn machine when kids push it around like a lawnmower. That thing mysteriously rolled itself under the back tire of his truck and was broken into 20 pieces... what a pitty.

We never threw anything on the roof, Jeffrey somehow had the notion he was a monkey. All he needed was a reason to climb on top of something.

Amazing how those toys mysteriouly end up under the truck's tires, when the toy has never been out of the house... so sad.
My brother in law here in La Paz has a sock monkey on his roof. He threw it up there to keep it away from the dog. Don't tell Jeff where it is... the monkey will come get the monkey.
