Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

To Chacala! Finally Away From Bug Hell!

Yesterday morning we split up the last minute grocery list and three of us headed in different directions.
Farmacia and beer for me.
Shrimp and other beer for Alan.
Bread, flour tortillas and tomatoes for Susan.
Jim was to sit on the boat and wait for the water truck.
Amazingly enough I found Noche Buena, the Christmas beer in a small tienda!
So bought almost all of it, or what I could carry in two canvas bags.
30 bottles.
By the time I was back to the marina, I was dragging...
Almost dragging the canvas bags.
The marina security man ran out to take a bag from me.
And I don't even drink the stuff...

Lots and lots of whales on the way!

Jim and I were amazed at how many more homes were on the hillsides around and in Chacala!
The last time we were here was ten years ago.
Alan and Susan were here about two years ago, when delivering "New Focus" from Manzanillo to La Paz, so weren't quite as surprised!
And so GREEN!

We went for a float in the 79.5 degree water and had a drink with the neighbors, Evan and Flossie from "Jambo".

Then an incredible dinner of shrimp on the barbie, green beans and Alan's La Paz refried beans and rice!
And fresh pineapple too!

Today to the beach for some exploration.

That shrimp looks wonderful!
We like Chacala...friendly people and good food. We did a wonderful dink ride in to shore last time but going out W was "Capt Rum" and we took a wave or two over us! Lesson learned....no rum for the Capt!
Can't wait to have a glass of vino with you in La Cruz.

Did you guys just go into the big beach? There is that perfect little dinghy / panga beach by the old Port Captain's office with little tiny waves. If you use that beach, then Wayne can have rum...
Are you flying in to PV tomorrow? We will be in Banderas Bay manana! Bring WINE! ;)

Man! Remind me never to buy a boat if life is as terrible as you show it to be. I mean, uh, look at the kind of food you have to eat. I feel so sorry for you both.

Ah, on to Bahia de Banderas! My favorite place in the world to sail! Please Hello to Punta Mita as you go by! Also a favorite. I am so glad you are having a good time as you have to be having it for me too!

Ahoy, Meerkat! I'm not sure when we will be back in La Cruz. The Capt arrives here today and we have things to do that could take a week before we can head south. Maybe you'll still be in La Cruz when we get there, or maybe we'll see you further south. Tenacatita? Barra?

The trip is sounding great!! I sure am jealous of you seeing all those whales! We did some canvas work for "Jambo" in another life. If you see them again, please say hey from us. If you could, I'd ask you to put your arms around Banderas Bay and give it a big hug from us! Have a great season!
