Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

A Sistership for Sale!

This is only the third time we have seen an Ocean 49 for sale, including when our boat was listed.
We pretty much bought our's after viewing photos.
Lousy photos.
Lousy photos via email.
In fact these lousy photos.

Yep, it was that shower pic that sold us.
Makes you want to run right out and buy a boat over the internet, doesn't it?
Actually I am so happy Jim could see "through" these pictures!

Click on the post title to go to the listing of the sistership.
We love the price they have listed!!
Reminds us once again that we got the deal of the century.

"Cat Clique" Poll Results

6 votes for "Sea Dancer" ~ which was the correct answer!
Because ~ hey, that is just not a "cat" name.
If you want to be a dorky catamaran owner, put that "cat" word in there somewhere...
Like "Cat'n About", "Catalyst", "Le Gato", "Cat's Meow" or Alan's favorite, "Cat Sass".

And 1 vote for "Meerkat" ~ which was the other correct answer!
Because ~ we had to bribe the real "cat clique" with a bottle of wine so we could hang with them one evening.
Because ~ we aren't really cruising and doing all the cruiser functions, basically we just happen to live here.
Because ~ we spell "kat" wrong.

Speaking of catamaran people...

The other night we enjoyed a nice dinner at Bandido's (the place that gave us the Corona tablecloth) with Carol and Wayne of "Capricorn Cat" and Kellie and Dave of "Sweet Lorraine".Dave and Kellie are getting used to being the "token monohullers" around us...
Dave told the story of how after Jim sailed down with Dave and Kellie in November 2006, I flew down for a week. We had a little cocktail party at our hotel and invited Rob and Linda of "Cat'n About" and Melinda, George and Joshua of "Southern Belle". Well Dave and Kellie of "Sweet Lorraine" turned out to be surrounded by cat people...
They were the only monohull owners!
And again with "Meerkat" and "Capricorn Cat" the other night...

Two cats in the yard, life used to be so hard

Actually four cats in the marina, but everything reminds me of song lyrics lately...
"Thunder and lightning, very, very frightening"
"Hotel California, mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice"
"It's raining, it's pouring"
"Our house is a very, very fine house"

Ok, where was I going with this?
Oh yeah, there are four catamarans currently parked in Marina de La Paz.
One doesn't fit.

Hmmmmmm....
Which one is it?

The Cause of It All!

"Capricorn Cat" ~ our first real "catamaran exposure" eight, nine and ten years ago!
This boat used to be owned by a wonderful couple, Blair and Joanie (they have since sold the boat).
In Zihautanejo, they would take groups of cruisers out for a daysail and snorkle trip.
We got to go!
We also did some "Wet Wednesday" races and Jim raced in the Banderas Bay Regatta one year on this cat.
Blair was kind enough to "lend" his Multihull magazines to Jim, with me protesting as I knew a monster was being created.
After the monster was fully created, we took "Thistle" back to Alta California and Jim the monster researched and searched for a catamaran.
Four years of searching brought us to "Meerkat".
The monster was happy.
So this boat started it all!
Thanks to Blair and Joanie for sharing their boat, magazines and knowledge! We love this boat!

P.S. "Capricorn Cat" is fine ~ just being moved into her summer slip by the awesome marina staff!
