Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Scenes from Yesterday

No, not the 100 year ago yesterday.
Yesterday.
When we had rain in the middle of the day, not in the late afternoon.
And some beautiful thunderheads all afternoon. As I said before, we love clouds now!
We love rain now!
Jim hated rain when we lived in Alta California.
Now we pray for clouds and rain...
We loved the sun in Alta California.
Now we want shade at all times.

The late afternoon was beautiful as well.
Interesting lighting and colors.

Today we have clouds 360 degrees all around us.
But no clouds above.
Yet.
No rain yet either, but there is still time!
The thunderheads are building to the South Southeast.
Come on thunderheads!

So Close... But No Joy...

Wow - thunderheads were building to the West of us yesterday.
Usually they form more to the South-East over the mountains.
We watched them build and head our way...

We watched the lightning and listened to the thunder and HOPED for some rain!
Anything to cool us off!

And of course, since I had just washed the boat this morning, figured it would rain (sort of like when you wash your car then it rains later?)...But it just skirted us...
Rained in El Centenario...
Rained in the hills...
Rained to the South-East of us...
But it did not rain on us...

The Threat of Rain...

But no rain yesterday, even with the 80% chance.
The wishful thinking and hoping for rain didn't work...
The clouds were beautiful, but wow was it muggy!

This was the most humidity we have felt in La Paz.
Kind of reminds me of October 1998 in Puerto Vallarta ~ we would try to do work on the boat and our sunglasses would fill with sweat and we couldn't see what we were working on...
It was a "one project a morning" type of day.
Today too...

The Start of Life Back in La Paz

The weather has changed to summer weather ~ tropical... thunderheads over the mountains... and more humidity...
But nothing like Puerto Vallarta in the month of October!Today there is an 80% chance of rain in La Paz.
I would love it if it rained for an hour or two ~ then my car would be back to white instead of brown...
And I love tropical rain!
Maybe if I go have my car washed, then it would rain?

We took Mark, Emma and Rafa out to the La Torquesa property to look at lots.
Here is our little 4wd adventure out there...
John's truck could barely make some of the turns! And, yes we had to put our truck into 4wd to turn around on this narrow road!

The lots are on a hill overlooking the Cerralvo Channel, the beach and with incredible views!

The beach at La Torquesa!
Always beautiful and amazing...

Rafa, Emma and Mark ~ the water temp was perfect! Can't wait to go swimming - maybe today...
