Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Friday 03-21-08 ~ Passing Cabo Falso, Cabo San Lucas & Arriving in San Jose del Cabo!

I got up at 5:00 and joined Jim on watch.
Watched the sky get red behind Cabo Falso.
I woke the rest of the crew, so they could watch the sunrise over Cabo.

We rounded the Cape and watched the herd of sportfishers head out for the day.
Had to play "chicken" with a few of them and one cruise ship.
We did not alter course for the sportfishers, but did for the ship...

Offered to drop the "not the birthday boy" Stan off in Cabo San Lucas, but he said if we did he would swim the other way! Then the whale show started!
We had them on both sides and all around.

And had a turtle right next to the boat!We motored along slowly so we could whale watch and fish. The guys caught several skipjacks (or maybe the same one over and over?)...

We found the new marina entrance in San Jose & headed in, parked and was amazed to find David, the captain of "Avanti" a few slips away! Jim knew David and the boat from Marina del Rey as he used to work on "Avanti"!

Time for a celebration as we reached "Cabo" ~ champagne courtesy of Bill & Kathy - thanks guys!

We had no electricity, but we had water!
So ran the generator and did 3 loads of laundry.
The first load (hanging on the lifelines) would be dry by the time we would get the next load out of the washer!

Naps, showers & into town (San Jose del Cabo, not Cabo San Pucas)...

Very pretty main street and the most beautiful fountain and square I have ever seen in Mexico!

I could have stood at this fountain all night!

The church was beautiful also!

Took lots of pictures, walked around and found a restaurant we had read about "El Comal".
It was great ~ a beautiful courtyard with incredible lighting.
We had pomegranete margaritas at the bar while we waited for our table.
The waiter gave Stan the new nickname of "Pancho Villa"... hmmmm...
We'll have to change the embroidery on the back of his hat?
Tim was quite entertaining...Walked around a bit ~ the stores close early here (such a change from Cabo San Lucas!), but the store windows were interesting...
would you buy one of these for your house?

Back to the boat where we listened to roosters crow all night!
