Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Friday 03-28-08 ~ Muertos to Ensenada Grande, Isla Partida

Jim up early. Stan & Tim joined him. Then me.
Pulled anchor at 5:45 am and headed out towards an incredible sunrise that lasted forever!Motored up the Cerralvo Channel with fishing lines out and one sailboat behind us.

This is Isla Cerralvo~~~

Had Southerly winds going up the channel - a first!
And some cloud cover - the tail end of a pineapple express.
No fishes, but the Baja Ferry caught up to us at the North end of the channel, as we were making the turn into the San Lorenzo Channel. Altered course for him (tonnage rules).

Headed up Espiritu Santo and enjoyed the geology, clear turquoise water and scenery!Headed along the next island, Isla Partida to one of our favorite anchorages ~ Ensenada Grande!

Pulled in and saw two charter catamarans already anchored - another first!

Back to beautiful water!

I kayaked all along the rocks and went to both beaches.
Jim & Stan snorkled along the South wall.
Swam around and under the boat.
Jim washed my hair as I hung on the ladder.
Had rum & juice cocktails.
Watched boats come and go.
Got down to just us in the anchorage for awhile.
Then 3 charter boats came in...
The guys worked on the starboard head (yuk).
Stan fished and caught a few puffer fish. Kind of cute!

Had salad, pinto beans and tri tip for dinner (yum)!
Watched another beautiful Mexican sunset.Watched fish and some small yellow-orange crabs come to our lights for awhile.
Listened to the Southerly wind all night and wondered what was on the deck that was not tied down...
