Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Wednesday 03-19-08 ~ Man-O-War Cove to Punta Belcher

Filthy, filthy, toilet paper, ick water in Man-O-War Cove, so let's get out of here!
We pulled anchor and had to scrub scum yuk off of the chain (Stan, Tim & I got pretty grossed out when we did this...)

Back to Punta Belcher where there was only one other boat anchored and clean water.Time to get rid of the trash again.
To the beach to find an old rusty refrigerator - but which one to use?
There are so many to choose from...
Found a good one & burned away!

Found some other strange items on the beach as well.

I took a little walk and found this squid who was still showing color and making patterns in it's skin. The patterns were amazing!
Stan found it's beak and shared it with the rest of us.Then he did an autopsy and kept some pieces for bait (yuk).Back to the boat where we took showers and I made hamburger buns.Watched Stan watch big squid steal his bait (also big squid) off of his lure.
Watched a gal off of the boat behind us swim into shore, walk around then swim back. On her way back she stopped by our boat and hung out for awhile (warmed up!). That was Emmanuelle from "Chogolisa", who we met up with later in La Paz a few times - she and Jean Luc are very interested in catamarans - so we talked cats a lot in La Paz!

Watched sea lions chase and eat the big squid.
Watched the birds try to steal the big squid from the sea lions.
Watched whales.

BBQ'd burgers on the home-made buns - yum!
Read & to bed...
