Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Hurricane Prep Day on "Meerkat"

To make a long story short, we are on the end-tie of K Dock in the inner harbor of Marina Costa Baja.
It was kind of a cluster "you-know-what" (have to watch my language, as my Mommy reads this blog) when it came to arranging to go back into our normal slip.
We went back in the water around 4 pm (another long story that I will skip for now).
Today has been spent preparing us and the boat for Hurricane Norbert.
Scrubbing the boatyard dirt off the decks.
Groceries, extra water, cerveza.
Wrapping the mainsail.
Putting 10 docklines out.
Strapping the dinghy to the davits.
Cleaning the floor.
Doing laundry.
Etc., etc., etc.
Now we wait.
The forecast at this point shows Norbie as a category 1 as it reaches Baja's Pacific Coast to the NW of us tomorrow mid-day.
We should get a decent amount of rain and tropical storm winds manana.
Pics of the paint, proximity (and explanation), what we do when we are in the yard and Norbie to follow!

Yeah, it kind of is, but Baja will break it up quite a bit so you will be FINE, FINE, FINE. I guess those friends of your's didn't throw enough ice cubes in... We should be getting our tropical storm winds and rain in 6-8 hours. All battened down and just waiting, checking internet and waiting. I'll let you know what we get.

Ta Heather.
I emailed the yard and asked them to go check but who knows. Friends also unable to go check cos too busy with their own boats. If only more of the people I know were in SC now, I could have asked others to go and check, too.
But c'est la vie. If I'm destined to lose the boat, so be it.

I am so worried. This is my little oasis. In the cockpit of Meerkat.
