Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Moving Right Along...

Jim, Jim and LLLLucy are now in San Juanico.
Sort of the bottom of the middle bight hops.
Tomorrow the long stretch to Bahia Santa Maria.
Then on to Bahia Magdalena.

Me?
Still in Ventura.
Saturday I spent hours washing and scrubbing the exterior of the boat.

Still spots of grime, dirt and pigeon poo.
Death to pigeons!

Sunday I spent on the interior of the boat.
Scrubbing the walls.
Changing sheets.
Washing the window coverings.
De-molding the starboard hull.

Killing pigeons.
Scrubbing the overhead.
Hanging the Christmas lights.
Throwing away old food.
Organizing things.
Blah, blah, blah.

Hey Heather I see some of the yachts in the marina with fake owls and rubber snakes on them to help keep the birds away, would that keep your pigeons away? (I mean I assume that's what they're for unless they're trying to get a more National Geographic feel while at the dock) :)

They don't really work. I have seen other birds sitting on top of the owls. The pigeons live on the crane (the un-stepping the mast crane, not another big bird) and fly above my boat all the time. Plus it hadn't been washed in eons. Many eons. We are basically lazy people.
I'm still going for the little tiny blindfolds on the pigeons idea. Then the female pigeons won't be able to see the boy pigeons and won't lay eggs. Or poison. Or a hand grenade.

All you need is a sling shot. :)

We don't have pigeons, we have mourning dove and grackles, you know... those loud squawking black birds. Not fun when you drive a convertible. I have to strategically position myself at red lights, and never drive in the right hand lane on tree lined streets. It's like they look for me.

I really think the birds have gotten out of hand.

Just take the boat out in a gale. Cleans the bird crap right off!

BTW are you really doing that much work while Jim's away? Or are you just typing that so he thinks you are while you are having champagne & strawberries for brekkie each morning?
