Looking for a Catamaran Cruising Blog?

If you found this blog via a link from a cruising site ~ we did cruise Mexico on our Ocean 49 cat for a season. See the first text box on the right for links to our preparations, trip down Baja, life in Mexico, cruising and trip back up to SoCal. Unfortunately we are back to the grind in the USA...

Good Morning Norbie! 9:00 am Update

Here we go~Our pal, Norbie even went up to a category 3 early this am.And from what we can tell now is hitting the Coast around the Southern edge of Magdalena Bay as a category 2.

In the Costa Baja inner marina, we are nicely docked with many docklines on an end-tie, listening to the local chatter on vhf.
Everyone has their own opinion and it's full on yakking and discussion.
It's actually very interesting!

We are FINE and are not worried.
A little concern about our bimini, because it is hell to take off and put back up...
But the dinghy and new dinghy cover is tied.
Boat is as put away as possible outside and we have 4 or 5 huge lines sitting in the cockpit if needed.

Right now we are getting some gusts up to 40 mph with off and on rain.

Will update as we proceed!

Get some pictures for us. Hopefully you will just get rain and none of the really high winds!!

You're updates soothe me.
I am so nervous. My stomach is all over the place. I love my boat. Wail. I will never talk about selling her ever again if she survives.
Wail.

overboard - is your boat on the hard at Marina Seca or the other one? Marina Seca is awesome - Ed told us how far down the jackstands are in to the ground, so if your boat is there, it will be fine! Hang in there...

It's at Seca and Jesus just emailed me to let me know that they are looking after my boat. I love Jesus. He rocks.
All I needed to hear was a little reassurance, one way or the other, and I feel a lot better now.
Your blog posts are great. Live. A bit like Jomamma's during Ike.

re: Seca. They have two kinds of jackstand. The ones on top of the ground, and special 'hurricane proof' ones that are dug into the ground. Funnily enough, during the last big 'cane to hit that area, the boats on the hurricane proof ones, faired worse. My friend's steel boat fell over. He uses the plain stands now.

Wow - I think Ed told us the hurricane ones went 4' into the ground. That is scary! You will be fine - I had a little chat with the lady above. She said, "Have a nip and no worries!"
